React helps families caring for children who are diagnosed with an illness that is life-threatening and has the potential to shorten their lifespan. We will consider any request that meets a ‘basic, essential need’ or unavailable through any other source in a timely manner.
We’ve tried to make applying as simple as possible. This is how it works:
Step One – Request an Application Form
To obtain an Application Form either…
- Download an application form to your computer or device.
- Contact us on 0208 940 2575 or email react@reactcharity.org to request a form by post.
- Ask your child’s healthcare professional for an application form.

Step Two – Fill In The Details
Families need to fill out the ‘Application to be completed by Parent or Guardian’ and ‘Financial Status Questionnaire’ sections on the form, giving us as much detail as possible about what your child needs.
Healthcare professionals must endorse the request by completing the ‘Endorsement’ section on the form.
React is here for ‘basic, essential needs’ such as:
- Specialist Medical Equipment (unavailable through your local health authority)
- Educational or Sensory Equipment (to aid your child’s development)
- Mobility Equipment (to assist your child’s physical development)
React also considers requests for basic, essential homecare items, travel and subsistence costs and end of life costs.
React families are given the opportunity to take a one week respite break a year at one of five mobile homes across four different UK locations.
Step Three – Complete & Return
Ask a qualified medical or healthcare worker to complete and sign the endorsement section of the form. Please make sure they specifically state why they believe the item(s) will be of benefit. Send us the form with any relevant letters or quotes.
React is sensitive to urgent requests and responds to all applications within 48 hours
